News - Week Ten

In the first division, Amlwch A extended their lead at the top to fifty-five points following two victories, 30-1 over Craig-y-don A and a 30-4 over Y Morfa A. The Craig-y-Don A point was secured by Tom Bird who took a game from Paul Collins. Andy Horton extracted two games from Keith Williams and one from Ian Ault, in both fixtures their opponents could field only two players. 

The current second and third placed teams met, and second placed Police A prevailed 19-18 at the expense of third placed Henllan APaul Hulme won his three singles dropping two games to James Wan and one to Roger LeeSean Lucas beat Brian Cooke in three straight and dropped one game to James Wan but had no answer to Roger Lee losing out 1-3. Police Awon all the remaining matches and the two games that Melvyn Booker achieved proved not quite enough. 

Llandudno lie fourth in the table with a game in hand over their immediate rivals after a 24-15 win over Trinity A. The strongest player here proved to be Stuart Dearden who won his singles dropping two games to Graham Heath and one to Steve NichollsAndy Lunt beat both Eddie Chan and Rob Stewart a feat repeated by both Steve Nicholls and Graham Heath. The doubles became a tight affair with Andy and Graham beating Rob and Eddie 11-9 in the fifth.

In the second division, Trinity B is up to second in the table following a 21-14 win over Henllan CJosh Parry secured a maximum for Henllan C, and he teamed up with Peter Barrow in the doubles and they went down 6-11 in a fifth game decider. Alan HopperEllis Hughes and John Lovegrove all beat both Josh Williams and Peter Barrow. The closet encounter witnessed John Lovegrove beating Peter Barrow 11-8 in the fifth game.

Henllan B closed the gap to third placed Police B by running out 20-18 winners. Peter Roberts remains unbeaten seeing off Jonny Hughes; who stepped in to replace an unavailable Harold Furber, 11-9 in the fifth game decider. Stan Wan chipped in with straight game wins against both Don Grigg and Iain MacGillivray and going down in a five-game thriller to Jonny Hughes. But it was not enough Henllan B wrapped up the remaining four encounters for the loss of only one game.

A bottom of the table clash witnessed Amlwch C beat Rhyl C 23-17. Emyr Owen won his three singles dropping a game to both Taylor Tabiner and Marcus Wilton-JonesCharlie Haddcock beat both Tayor and Marcus in five-game tussles and he teamed up with Emyr to win a five game doubles battle. Patricia Peak stopped the five-game losses by beating Deio Rogers11-9 in the fifth.
