News - Week Six

In the first division, unbeaten Police A is temporarily at the top, they overcame Rhyl B 20-17. Brian Cook was the strongest player on view, beating John Hughes in a five-game thriller. John Hughes beat both James Wan and Roger Lee in three straight games and he teamed up with Chris Markey to land the doubles 11-5 in the fifth game.  However, it was not enough because Roger Lee beat both Fred Moore and Chris Markey for the loss of only one game in each encounter.

Rhyl A are in second position with a game in hand, they easily disposed of bottom of the table Craig-y-don A 30-2. Maximums here for both Eliot Platt and David DanielsGlen Phoenix came back from two games down to beat Tom Bird 12-10 in the fifth game.

Trinity A bolstered by the return of John Chan easily beat Henllan A 24-13. John Chan landed a maximum and he teamed up Stuart Dearden in the doubles to secure another easy win. Stuart Dearden also won his singles matches dropping a game to both Jonny Hughes and Paul Hulme and two to Sean LucasEddie Chan won a game from each of the Henllan A players.

In the second division Trinity B remain top of the table following a narrow 22-19 win over Rhyl CSteve Lowe representing Rhyl C proved to be the strongest player winning his singles, although he was taken to a fifth game decider by Robert Stewart. Rob prevailed in another five-game battle at the expense of Marcus Wilton-Jones and again in the doubles with the help of Andy Chambers 11-9 in another fifth game decider.

Henllan B maintain second spot with a 30-11 victory over Y Morfa B. While Henllan B won every match they were taken to five games in three matches and four games in further five matches. Harold Furber produced the best statistics dropping only two games in the singles, one each to David Meadows and Steven DaviesIain McGillivray and Harold came from two one down in the doubles to beat Mike Trbojevic and David Meadows in the deciding game.

Amlwch B remain the only unbeaten team in the division and move up to third with games in hand over the current divisional front runners. They beat Craig-y-don B 27-6 with Ged Haresnape offering the most resistance, beating Caren Ault in three straight games. Dave Strange extracted a game from both Ben Sutcliffe and Caren. Reg John secured an impressive maximum beating both Dave Strange and Bill Wells and dropping only ten points over the six games.
