The new season is off and running and the champions Amlwch A is top of the first division first following a 30-1 victory over newly promoted Craig-y-don A. Junior Tom Bird secured the Criag-y-Don A point by taking a game from Keith Williams. Last year’s runners-up Rhyl A also hold that position in the embryonic table winning their derby 28-9. Glen Phoenix won all his singles for the loss of only one game, but John Hughes representing Rhyl B produced eye catching performances beating both David Daniels and Eloit Platt in five game-thrillers. The doubles produced another five-game set with Eliott and David prevailing 11-9 in the decider at the expense of Barry Russ and John. Police A lie third they beat Henllan A 23-15, Mark Pugh won all his singles dropping one game to Jonny Hughes.Paul Hulme beat both Tony Wan and James Wan dropping just one game in the proceess. The doubles proved to be the closet encounter with Melvyn Booker and Jonny racing to a two-game lead before being pegged back to lose in five to Mark and Tony. The closet match of the week witnessed Trinity A beat Llandudno 20-18. Stuart Deardenwon all his singles matches dropping one game to Graham HeathRob Walker representing Llandudno beat substitute Andrew Chamberlain over five games. Graham squeezed past Eddie Chan 11-8 in the decider. The tightest match of the week was the doubles where Stuart and Eddie prevailed 15-13 in the fifth over Andy Lunt and Graham.

In the second division, Amlwch B have started strongly beating Y Morfa B 30-2, maximums here for both Reg John and Caren AultBen Sutcliffe dropped one game to David MeadowsMike Trbojevic and Dave secured the second Y Morfa B point in the doubles. Rhyl C have improved over the close season and readily beat Amlwch C 28-7. A maximum here for Tom Henry, Steve Lowe dropped just the one game. Charlie Haddock representing Amlwch Cbeat Marcus Wilton-Jones in a five-game battle, and he teamed up with Emyr Owen to land the doubles in another five-game set. The closest match in the division resulted in a 21-18 win for Henllan B at the expense of Police BPeter Roberts won all his matches this included a 12-10 fifth game win over Harold FurberStan Wan teamed up with Peter to land the doubles and he also beat Iain MacGillivray over four games. But this was not enough, Chris Watkins beat Stan 14-12 in the fifth and she did not drop a game against Nigel McLaughlin. Harold also won his remaining singles 3-0 to secure a narrow victory for the visitors.
