News- 2nd Week April 2023

In the first divisionfollowing the results this week the top five positions in the division are sorted as are the bottom two positions. Police A is confirmed third in the league despite losing 17-22 to fifth placed LlandudnoBrian Cooke representing Police A proved the strongest player on the night winning each of his singles matches over four games. The closest encounter witnessed Graham Heath coming from two games down against Roger Lee, to secure the last two games 16-14, 13-11.

Y Morfa A beat Rhyl B 21-16 to draw level on points with their opponents, but with Rhyl B still to play a match and with a superior sets total, Y Morfa A is confirmed in eighth place in the division. John Hughes won all three singles although taken to 13-11 in the fifth by Andy Horton. John teamed up with Chris Markey to land the doubles 3-1. But the Y Morfa A players; Andy Horton, Rob Stanway and Chris Henderson  each beat Barry Russ and Chris Markey to secure the result.

In the second division, three teams are still in the running for the runners-up spot. Henllan B lie third three points behind Police B, but looking at the outstanding fixtures may be narrow favourites. This week Henllan B beat Y Morfa B 26-10 with Iain MacGillivray winning each of his singles, two went to a fifth game decider but he prevailed against both David Meadows and Steven Davies. Steven Davies lost out in two further five game matches to both Harold Furber and Chris Watkins. In a night of five game battles David Meadows lost out to Chris Wakins but beat Harold Furber. The doubles became the seventh five game tussle, Mike Trbojevic and Steven Davies won out against Harold and Iain 11-6 in the decider.
