News - Handicap Cup

A return to the news desk after a seven week break in time to report on the Round of 16 in the handicap cup and take any flack for “poor” handicapping producing one sided games. This was certainly not the case in the one division clash between Rhyl Band Llandudno. Following a ninth game win by Rob Walker over Barrie Russ, Llandudno had caught Rhyl B and led by seven points going into the deciding game. John Hughes put a fantastic performance to beat Andy Lunt 40-33 to tie the match, but Llandudno go through on the away team rule. Another close match witnessed Craig-y-don A beat Y Morfa B by four points. Dave Meadows put up stern resistance beating both Ady Waugh and Ged Haresnape but was blown away 11-40 by Tom Bird

In the preliminary round of the President’s Trophy Henllan B beat Trinity B by forty-nine points. In the key matches here; Ellis Hughes found the more experienced Iain MacGillivray and Don Grigg a difficult proposition, failing to make twenty points in both matches.

The quarter finals of both the Handicap Cup and President’s Trophy are due on to be played week commencing the 20th March and the draws are now available on the Handicap Cup Draws section of this site.
