News - Last Week 2022-23 Season

In the President’s Trophy Final, Henllan C struggled to field a team, but thanks go to Maria Laffey for temporarily abandoning her revision and Rhyl B for letting her play her three games straight, so she could return home to prepare for her examination the following day. Rhyl B were set the task of restricting Henllan C below an average of thirty points per game. Due to the changed playing order, it was difficult to track the running score, it seemed that Rhyl B were clearly on top with no Henllan C player reaching their target score. Josh Parry played a strong second half against John Hughes but went down 28-40. As the dust cleared Josh Parry  beat Fred Moore to twenty and Peter Barrow scored a respectable twenty-four against John Hughes. In the final match Josh Parry was set the task of restricting Barrie Russ to single digits. Josh played well beating Barrie Russ to sixteen, but Rhyl B landed the President’s Trophy by six points.

In the second division, the final league fixture of the season witnessed seventh placed Rhyl C beat eighth placed Craig-Y-Don B 23-18. Peter Higgins representing Rhyl C won all his singles the closest, a five-game battle against Keith Potter. Taylor Tabner won two five-game encounters the tightest a 18-16 win against Bill Wells. Bill also lost over five-games against Marcus Wilton-Jones. The doubles also went to a fifth game decider but here the Craig-Y-Don B pairing of Dave Strange and Keith Potter prevailed 11-8 in the last.
