News - Week Twelve

In division one second placed Rhyl A, who have only lost one match, played two matches this week. They narrowly beat seventh placed Police A. Mark Pugh representing Police A won all his singles ties dropping only one set in the process to David Daniels. Ross Lander was involved in two five-set battles losing out to both Brian Cooke and Roger Lee. However, both David Daniels and Tom Bird both beat Roger Lee and Brian Cooke and teamed up to land the doubles and secure a 20-17 victory for Rhyl A.

 Rhyl A also had a comfortable 30-2 over bottom the table Y Morfa A. Maximums were landed by both Tom Bird and John Hughes. Captain Dave Daniels came back from two sets down to defeat Andy Horton over five sets.

 In division two fifth placed Trinity B beat eighth placed Craig-y-don B 22-14. No one player dominated and Ged Haresnape was involved in the two closest encounters beating Rob Stewart 13-11 in a fifth-set decider before losing to Zak O’Hara 12-14 in another five-set tussle. Zak O’Hara was also involved in another second five-set thriller and was outpointed by Dave Strange 11-8.

 Craig-y-don B also played a second match this week losing to third placed Police B 9-28. Nigel McLaughlin secured a maximum. Peter Roberts also won his singles but was stretched to five sets by Ged Haresnape. New player Antony Dallison took a set from Andy Chambers and Andy was taken to fifth set by Bridget Prescott before prevailing. Ged Haresnape won the sole encounter that went the way of Craig-y-Don B, he beat Andy Chambers 3-1.
