In the Handicap Cup round of 16, the closest contest witnessed Trinity A beat Rhyl A by 17 points. The teams were closely handicapped with Rhyl A having to overcome a two-point average deficit in each game. Stuart Dearden and John Chan won all three singles dropping 100 and 85 points respectively. The crucial score was John Chan beating Dave Daniels 40-20.  

Police A were given the task of restricting Rhyl C to an average of 24 points per game, which they achieved in half the matches. Taylor Tabinor played well to achieve 30 from James Wan and 25 from Brian CookeMarcus Wilton-Jones extracted 29 from James WanAndy Chambers and Taylor amassed 28 in the doubles but Brian Cooke restricted Marcus to 10 points and Police Awon by 23 points.

Y Morfa A were tasked with restricting Craig-y-don A to an average of 37 points per match, in an intriguing battle between division two ‘highflyers’ and division one ‘strugglers’. Dave Foster beat Chris Henderson to 32 points but Y Morfa A won the other eight singles with Andy Horton excelling in restricting his opponents to 31,23 & 22 points. The doubles were played last, and Craig-y-Don A needed to win by at least 40-5, they did not achieve this unlikely score but edged the encounter 40-39.

Rhyl B had to restrict Craig-y-Don C to an average of 28 points per game in a battle of the teams at the bottom of their respective divisions. The two best Craig-y-don C performances witnessed Dave Tyrrell and Steve Albinson achieve 37 and 36 points against Fred Moore. However, inform Ben Moore beat Enir Wyn Cotes 40-11 and Steve Albinson 40-17. Barrie Russ chipped in with a 40-15 win over Steve to ensure Rhyl B progress to the quarter finals by 35 points.

In tightly handicapped match where Trinity C had to beat Police B with an average of a one-point start. Police B won only three of the singles, a task that Ellis Hughes matched beating Stan Wan to 39, Nigel McLaughlin to 23 and a ‘ring rusty’ Alan Lavery to 20. The doubles were not played with Trinity C 76 points clear.

Due to injury and a family bereavement Amlwch A conceded against Craig Y Don B who now progress to the quarter finals where they will be away to Rhyl B.

In the second division, the first draw of the season 19-19, was produced between two-man Y Morfa B and Craig-y-don BDave Meadows won his singles beating both Telor Jones and Bridget Prescott in three straight games but required all five games to overcome Bob HughesMike Trbojevic also required five games to see off Bridget and the doubles became the third match on the night that Y Morfa B needed all five games to secure a win.

Fifth placed Henllan B beat Amlwch C 25-11, Melvyn Booker won all three singles dropping a game to both Charlie and Mark HadcockCharlie Hadcock won his other two singles encounters. Iain beat both Mark Hadcock and Abbas Walji three games to one. Peter Barrow continues to improve, this week beating Mark three games to one and Abbas 14-12,15-13 and 11-9.
