In the preliminary round of the Handicap Cup, Rhyl A were set the task of restricting Henllan B below an average of 16 points per game. Melvyn Booker secured 21 against Tom Bird,and 27 against John HughesSimon Harris also hit the target extracting 16 points from Dave Daniels, but Rhyl A kept Henllan B below target in six other encounters. It came down to final match with Melvyn Booker needing 28 points against Dave Daniels. Dave started strongly and led 9-1 and seemed to be cruising when Melvyn started a fight back, but he fell short losing 23-40, giving a match score of 405-410. Rhyl A progress to the Handicap Cup round of 16 on Monday away to Trinity AHenllan B will take their place in the Presidents Trophy.

In the League Cup First Division, Rhyl A progress to the semi-final following a 5-2 win over LlandudnoTom Bird won both his singles dropping a game each to both Graham Heath and Andy LuntAndy Lunt beat Dave Daniels in three straight games and Steve Nicholls beat John Hughes in a five-game thriller. Dave Daniels won the battle of the captains overcoming Steve Nicholls12-10 in a fifth game decider. John Hughes beat both Graham Heath and Andy Lunt to secure the victory and ensure a home tie against Amlwch B in the semi-final.

In the first division, Amlwch A is thirty-two points clear at the top following a 25-10 win over fifth placed Henllan APaul Collinsdropped one game to Josh Parry and Ian Ault one game to Paul HulmeJosh Parry beat Isaac Gee over three straight games and Sean Lucas beat Isaac 3-1.

Police A eased past Llandudno 30-7 and remain in second position in the table, James Wan secured a maximum, Roger Lee beat Rob Walker in a five-game battle and Brian Cooke beat Graham Heath 11-9 in the closest game of the match which went to a deciding fifth game.

Amlwch B lie third after beating Rhyl B 24-10. Reg John dropped one game to Fred Moore and Ben Moore beat Andrew Lloyd over three straight games and James Austin for the loss one game. The closest encounter witnessed Ben and Fred Moore win the doubles over five games.

Rhyl A have games in hand over their rivals for runners-up spot and move up to fourth by brushing aside Y Morfa A 30-3. Tom Birdand John Hughes both secured maximums. David Daniels dropped a game to Jason Coe and two Andy Horton in an encounter where he came back from two games down.

 

In the second division, unbeaten Craig y Don A top the table by sixty-eight points, this week beating Trinity C 29-9. Ross Landersecured a maximum to consolidate his position at the top of the individual standings. Ady Waugh and Dave Foster both dropped a game to each Trinity C opponent. The doubles proved to be the closest pairing with Ellis Hughes and Kate Lai prevailing 17-15 in the fifth game decider.

Police B is up to second also maintaining their unbeaten record following a 24-12 win over Craig-y-Don CStan Wan dropped one game to Dave TyrellPeter Roberts dropped a game to both Dave Tyrell and Dave RoeNigel McLaughlin lost to both David Tyrrell and David Roe but beat Bill Wells 17-15 in the fourth a final game. The Police B paring of Stan Wan and Peter Robertscame back from two down to take the doubles in the only five-game encounter of the evening.
