News Week Twenty-One

In the League Cup Division One Semi-Final Rhyl A beat Amlwch B 8-1. Due to illness Amlwch B substituted a non-registered player from Bangor University. He is clearly strong beating both David Daniels and Tom Bird, but his scores are not valid. The only legal Amlwch B win witnessed Andy Lloyd overcoming David Daniels 11-9 in a fifth game decider. Amlwch A progress to the division one cup final against Rhyl A.

In a League Cup Division Two Semi-Final, the top two teams in the division were drawn together and the current league leaders Craig-y-Don A beat Police B 5-4. Ross Lander who heads the individual division standings won two matchups dropping a game to both Peter Roberts and Stan Wan, but he was beaten by Kevin Evans 8-11 in a fifth game decider. Ady Waugh who lies second in the individual standings lost all three matches on the night. Dave Foster stepped up to the plate winning all his matches including a win over Kevin Evans over four games in the last encounter of the tie.

The other semi-final was a Trinity derby, and it wiil be Trinity C that meet Craig-y-Don A in the final after beating Trinity B, winning the first five matches without reply. Kevin Hu beat both John Lovegrove and Will Bell without dropping a game. Ellis Hughes overcame Rob Stewart to win over five games and beat John Lovegrove in three straight games. Andy Hughes beat Will Bell to complete the 5-0 victory.

In the first Division, Police A move into second following a 23-18 win over Y Morfa A. No one player dominated, Brian Cooke beat both Chris Henderson and Andy Horton but lost out to Jason Coe. James Wan beat both Chris and Jason but lost in a fifth game decider to Andy Horton. Roger Lee beat both Jason and Chris in five game thrillers, winning the deciders 13-11 and 11-7 but lost to Andy over four games.

Llandudno is up to fifth, this week beating Trinity A 26-21. Captain Steve Nicholls won his singles dropping one game to both Stuart Dearden and Eddie Chan before scrapping past Kevin Hue over five games. Stuart Dearden won his other two matches against Graham Heath and Andy Lunt which were both five game thrillers. The match provided four further five-game encounters this included the doubles which went to Trinity A and narrow victories for Eddie over Andy, Graham at the expense of Eddie and Andy over Kevin.
