News - Week Twenty-Two

In the first division, Amlwch A re-establish themselves at the top of league following a comprehensive 30-3 victory over Llandudno. Man of the match Ian Ault secured a maximum and teamed up with Keith Williams to win the doubles in three straight games. Rob Walker extracted a game from Keith Williams and Graham Heath took Paul Collins to a fifth game losing out 8-11 in the decider.

Henllan A remain in second, this week beating Y Morfa A 29-10. Josh Parry dropped just one game on the night to Andy Horton. Sean Lucas also won his three but was taken to a fifth game decider by both Andy Horton and Rob Stanway. The sole Y Morfa A win was supplied by Andy Horton who beat Paul Hulme 11-9 in a fifth-game decider.

Police A lie third in the table despite losing 14-21 to fifth placed Rhyl A. Mark Pugh proved to be the strongest player on the night dropping just one game to Tom Bird. However, in a fine team effort David Daniels, John Hughes and Tom Bird all beat Brian Cooke and James Wan. The closest encounter witnessed John Hughes beat James Wan 11-7 in a fifth game decider.

Trinity A beat bottom of the table Y Morfa A 27-4. John Chan and Stuart Dearden both secured maximums. Eddie Chan beat both Jason Coe and Chris Henderson but lost out to Andy Horton.

In the second division, Craig-y-don A stretched the lead at the top of the table to twenty-three points following a 30-4 victory over Y Morfa BRoss Lander secured a maximum, Dave Foster dropped just the one game to Steven Davies and Ady Waugh dropped a game to Mike Trbojeviic and two to Steven Davies.

Second placed Police B maintained their unbeaten record beating third placed Trinity B 25-19. Peter Roberts led the way securing a maximum, Stan Wan also won his singles but needed five games to see off John LovegroveRob Stewart beat Nigel McLaughlin in three games John Lovegrove required four games to beat Nigel.

Fourth placed Trinity C overcame Craig-y-Don B 25-14. Both Ellis Hughes and Andrew Hughes won their singles Ellis was taken to a fifth game by Bob Hughes and Andrew was also stretched into a fifth game by Telor JonesKate Lai won a five-game battle at the expense of Dave Strange.

Fifth placed Henllan B were beaten by Rhyl C 16-20, Steve Lowe won his singles dropping one game to each of the Henllan players. Barrie Russ playing in the second division as a substitute for Peter Higgins beat Iain McGillivray and Simon Harris in three straight games but lost in three straight games to Melvyn BookerWilliam Lin representing Rhyl C beat Simon Harris over four games.

Amlwch C beat Craig-y-Don C 22-16, with Charlie Hadcock winning his singles dropping just one game to David TyrellMark Hadcock beat David Roe in a five-game encounter as did David Tyrrell at the expense of Gavin Callow. In the tightest match up of the evening David Roe and David Tyrrell landed the doubles for Craig-y-Don C 14-12 in the fifth game.
