In division one Trinity A continue to front run notching up their fifth straight win, this week accounting for Y Morfa 24-8. Abhishek Bathula recorded another maximum, Stuart Dearden also won his singles but was taken to 11-9 in a fifth-set decider by Andy Horton. Another five-set thriller witnessed Eddie Chan beating Chris Henderson 11-7 in the fifth set. The other six Y Morfa points were the result of straight set wins by Andy Horton and Jason Coe against Eddie Chan
Also unbeaten in three matches is current champions Amlwch A. They turned up a week early for their match against Henllan A. Following a few phone calls and by playing on two tables the fixture was completed before the unexpected snow fully settled. Jonny Hughes provided the most resistance, taking Keith Williams to a fifth set decider before losing out 11-13. Jonny also secured a set from both Paul Collins and Isaac Gee. Melvyn Booker took a set from Isaac and Keith. Josh Parry and Jonny Hughes lost 9-11 in another five-set battle to Paul and Keith in the doubles. But Amlwlch A secured all thirty points, running out 30-8 winners.
In division two Craig-y-Don A beat previously unbeaten Police B 27-14 to open a twenty-five-point gap at the top of the table. Telor Jones was the man of the match beating Nigel McLaughan over three sets, Stan Wanin four and Peter Roberts 11-9 in a fifth-set decider. Peter Robers was involved in two further five-set battles and was victorious 14-12 against Dave Foster and 11-8 against Ady Waugh. The third ‘dropped ‘point byCraig-y-don A was a five-set victory by Stan Wan against Ady Waugh.
Trinity B secured all thirty points against Craig-y-don C to move up to fourth in the table. Zac O’Hara only dropped one set to Bill Wells on the night to secure ‘man of the match’ honours. Bill also lost over four sets to both Garth Mitchell and Andrew Chamberlain. The closest encounter witnessed Garth Mitchell beating Bernie Bates 11-7 in a fifth set decider.
