News - Week Nine

In division one Trinity A continue their fine start beating Llandudno 29-6 with Abhisek Bathula securing another maximum to maintain his place at the top of the individual standings. Graham Heath was able to extract a set fromStuart Dearden and Andy Lunt beat Ben Moore 11-8 in a five-game encounter.

 In division two Craig-y-Don A continue both their dominance and unbeaten record, this week producing a 28-6 victory over Trinity BAdy Waugh secured a maximum and he was ably supported by Telor Jones who dropped only one set to Andrew Chamberlain. The closest match of the fixture witnessed David Tyrrell beat William Bell over five sets. The sole win for Trinity B was provided by a 3-1 victory by Andrew Chamberlain at the expense of David Tyrrell.

Trinity C lie a clear second following a 30-5 victory over Craig-y-don BGed Haresnape won a set from each of the Trinity C players: Ellis Hughes, Andy Hughes and Kevin Hu.  The other two points were landed by Keith Potter and Dave Strange taking Kevin Hu and Ellis Hughes to a fifth set decider in the doubles before losing.

 In a closely fought match between Police B and Rhyl B, the ‘man of the match’ was Fred Moore he beat Peter Roberts over four sets and both Stan Wan and Nigel McLaughlin in a pair of five-set thrillers. Another five -set encounter also went to Rhyl B with Barrie Russ overcoming Nigel McLaughlin. However, it was not enough, a couple of straight sets wins by Stan Wan and another by Peter Roberts plus a key doubles victory ensured a 23-17 victory for Police B. 

Amlwch C ran out clear winners over two-man Henllan B 25-12. Iain MacGillivray lost two five-set thrillers 8-11 to Abbas Walji and 14-16 to Emyr Owen in the deciding sets. Don Grigg beat Gavin Callow in three straight games and teamed up with Iain Macgillivray to win the doubles 3-1.

The bottom of the table Craig-y-Don derby witnessed the B team beating the C team 22-16. Ged Haresnape dropped just set on the night to Bernie Bates. Bernie prevailed in a five-set encounter at the expense of Keith Potter. The doubles was hard fought but Ged Haresnape and Keith Potter representing Craig-y-Don B overcame Craig-y-Don C paring of Steve Albinson and Bill Wells.
