News- Week Six

In division one Trinity A maintain their position in top spot, this week beating Henllan A 30-11. Abhishek Bathula remains unbeaten at the top of the individual standings but dropped a set to Melvyn Booker. Captain Stuart Dearden secured a maximum and ‘man of the match’ honours. Eddie Chan fought courageously against Jonny Hughes to extract a point for his team but was thwarted 18-20 and 10-12 in two valiant attempts.

In division two Trinity C is on top of the table having played five matches. This week they won the Trinity derby beating Trinity B 23-16. Eliis Hughes won his singles but dropped a set to both Andy Chamberlain and William BellAndy Hughes also won his singles dropping a set to Rob Stewart and winning a five-game encounter against Will Bell.

Unbeaten Craig-y-Don A lie second in the table following a comfortable 30-0 victory over Craig-y-Don B in the second derby of the week. Maximums here for Dave Tyrrell, Dave Foster and Telor Jones and a straight sets doubles victory clearly shows the dominance the A team have over their B team.

Rhyl B are in third position having also beat Craig-y-Don B this week.  Both Fred Moore, who lies at the top of the individual standings and William Lin both won their singles dropping just one set in the process.  Keith Potter provided the greatest resistance beating Chris Markey in a five-game thriller and securing a set in the doubles and taking another from Fred Moore. The result was a 29-7 victory for Rhyl B.

Henllan B secured their first victory of the season beating Craig-y-don C 26-10, who foot the table and are yet to win in five fixtures. Iain MacGillivray secured a maximum. Chris Watkins singles encounters were all five-game battles. She prevailed against both Bill Wells and Einir Wynn Coates but lost out to Bernie Bates9-11 in the decider. Bill Wells prevented Don Grigg from a third singles victory beating him in three straight games.
