A close match at "the hut" saw Rainham 2 just get the better of visitors Boxley 2 and move into 2nd place in Div 1. The hosts had to come back from 3-4 down in a night of competitve but enjoyable table tennis where every player one at least once but no one went undefeated. Gary Hentschel,armed with new bat and rubbers, got Boxley off to a flyer with a powerful straight legs win over Mick Hambelton and Mick responded with wins over Lyndon Gurr and Barry Roles. Gurr and Roles both beat John Coleman but John then found his shots and rhythm to beat Hentschel in 3. Trythall beat Gurr and Hentschel(just). He was looking odds on to pick up a treble when he won the first 2 legs against Roles and went 7-0 up in the 3rd but somehow let it slip for Boxley's 4th point.
