This match was decided by the doubles with Upnor C winning it in four sets.  No fewer than 4 players all got doubles with no-one being able to get three.  For Luton Sandra Parkes only lost to Colin Hutchins with Harry Dunnage suffering the same fate to Dave West.  Colin then lost to Harry and Dave was beaten by Sandra.  In the remaining singles match Brenda Aherne saved the whitewash by beating Tony Dunnage which gave Tony the "wooden spoon",
