Match Report

Luton 1 got back on track with a 9,1 victory to keep up their outside chances. The incomparable Martin Hewett picked up his customary maximum and was supported by Russell Bates, who also went undefeated. Rikki Clarke looked like he would cause an upset against Bates after a easy first leg victory!, and was on cause for a two leg lead, leading 7,3 in the second before the latter woke up and stormed to a fourth leg win. Dave McAulay was back after a three month absence and was made to fight, before overcoming Mark Steeden in four close legs. The best match on the night was Clarke & McAulay who once again had a fifth leg match, this time Clarke got the better, just edging home, 12,10 in the fifth, a great performance from the Rainham player. Dickie Hunt showed flashes of excellent and was very unlucky against McAulay in the first leg, going down 13,11, before losing in three.
