A hard fought win for Luton which produced some outstanding matches. Martin Hewett opened proceedings with a comfortable win over Ian Parkes, then arguably the match of the night with Tim Vaughan and youngster William McCarthy going toe to toe in an outstanding encounter. The latter was two legs up, with some brilliant hitting and control play before Vaughan found some form to take it to a decider, but the youngster held his nerve to win 11.8 in the fifth. Wayne Matthews squandered a 5 0 lead over Dave McAulay before winning the next three legs. Mccathy made Matthews fight hard as well,but the veteran showed all his experience to win 11,8 in the fifth. Hewett was fairly untroubled in his maximum, and only Ian Parkes left empty handed. The doubles was won by Luton to secure the 7, 3 victory
