Match Report

Long rallies and extremely close games meant a very late finish at Cliffe Woods 2 this week as they entertained Chatham Dorset.  Such was the competitiveness of the match that the final 4 games had to be played on 2 tables in order to achieve a 23.30 finish. The home side were, therefore, somewhat flattered by the 8-2 victory as Peter Mortley went unbeaten including coming back from 6-10 down in the 5th leg to Phil Humphries. It was one of those nights for Phil as he similarly lost deuce in the decider to Dave Lewis who also beat Claire Blackman but lost out to Gareth Fox. Claire did, however, beat Mike Kemlo for the visitor's 2nd point. The bare facts say this was Dorset's 6th loss of the season but they are contesting well.
