Match Report

A competitive match with long rallies meant a post 11pm finish at Blue Bell Village Hall this week where the hosts, Boxley 1, won the Doubles to salvage a draw against visitors' Chatham Dorset. Boxley had gone into a 4-2 lead with two wins for Gary Hentschel (over Claire Blackman and Gareth Fox) and singles for Barry Roles and Lyndon Gurr over Julian Barker, the latter from a 2 leg deficit. Dorset then rallied with Claire showing gritty determination to beat Roles and Gurr and Gareth forehand looping his way to success over the same Boxley pair. Pen holder Barker, then joined the scorers, holding off a Hentschel comeback to register a 2nd win of the season over the Boxley hard hitter. With Rainham 2 resting this week, the 5 points gained by Dorset lifts them off the bottom of Div One.
