Match Report
A match played in a good atmosphere between the current bottom two in Div One ended 9-1 to Boxley 1 which moves them several places up the table. The scoreline does flatter the hosts as four of the games could have had different outcomes. Simon Hatt, who is making a welcome return to competitive table tennis after an absence of over 30 years, lost his first game 12-10 in the 5th to Lyndon Gurr and then held a 2-1 leg advantage over Gary Hentschel before the Boxley hard hitter found his range. Garry Kimber was similarly unlucky not to get a win as he lost in 4 legs to Hentschel and in the decider to both Gurr and Barry Roles. Sheerness East's 3rd player, and star of local Hospital Radio Tony Slater, will have luckier nights as he lost four deuce legs 12-10. The Islanders did at least win the Doubles to salvage a point for their efforts but remain bottom.
