Vic Hope started his campaign of in fine form as he led his team to a 6-4 win in this match between the two Rainham teams in this division.  Vic only dropped one set, his first of the evening, to Bob Mahon but then won the next nine sets beating Bob, Steve Hayes and Keith Adams.  For Rainham 5 both Eddie Stevens and Tony Parry beat Steve leaving the latter player winless but Keith and Bob for Rainham 4 won two and the result hinged on the doubles with Eddie and John joining forces to win in 5 and get the win for Rainham 5
