Following promotion last season, Chatham Furious had a tough introduction to Div One when they met the very experienced Cliffe Woods 2 in their opening match. James Townsend, who was top of the Div 2 Averages last year, performed best for the newcomers recording an impressive win over Alan Bridle and also holding a 2 leg lead over Dave Lewis before the Woods' man fought back to secure his hatrick, having earlier in the match defeated Alex Low and Chris Griffiths. Woods took all remaining points with Peter Mortley starting the season well with a fairly comfortable Player of the Match performance.
