Match Report

A first draw of the season for both these sides at a chilly BlueBell Village Hall where the heating was on the blink. There was nothing cool, however, about Boxley's start to this match as they raced into a 4-0 lead when Lyndon Gurr beat Gary Clarke in the opening game; Rikki Clarke tasted defeat for only the 2nd time this season when he was blown away in straight legs by Gary Hentschel; and Barry Roles beat both Clarke Snr and Vinnie McAneney. Rainham fought back when Clarke Jnr easily beat both Gurr and Roles either side of Vinnie's 4 leg win against Hentschel. The battle of the two Garys ended with a 2nd 11-9 5th leg defeat on the night for the resolute but unlucky Clarke Snr which meant Boxley led 5-3 and Rainham faced the prospect of their first defeat of the season. However, Vinnie beat Gurr in the final singles and Rainham took the Doubles to preserve their unbeaten record.
