Chatham Furious are fighting for Div One survival but put up a good show against mid table Boxley 1. Their Captain, James Townsend, is having a fine season and his use of spin and powerful loops were shown to good effect in this match earning him a treble and his 3rd Player of the Match award. He beat both Gary Hentschel and Barry Roles in 4 legs and then had to dig deep to overcome Lyndon Gurr to whom he lost to in the previous match. Gurr had another busy night somehow saving a match point against Kevin Towner before just winning in the 5th, 14-12. Alex Low scored the host's 4th point with an unexpected win against Hentschel, holding his nerve after the Boxley man had fought back from 2 legs down. The match score rested on the Doubles and with Boxley losing the first 2 legs and with the 2nd worse Div One Doubles' record, it was not looking promising. However, Gurr/Roles took the final 3 legs to secure the 6-4 win.
