Match Report

Once again, my friend and Gannet captain has provided the following report - Chatham Gannet ended the season with their twelfth win of the campaign, but were made to work hard for it by their club mates from Invincible. Once again the latter's Henry Cronin showed his huge potential by winning a superb treble, against Gannet skipper John Clark (in four) and perhaps most impressively, in close five-setters against Rob Hudd and Zhong Jiao Tan. Henry won the fifth 11 - 9 against Rob and 15 - 13 against Tan, showing that even though he is only twelve, he can 'hang tough' in the big points. Invincible's other point came from Simon Fever, who beat John 12 - 10 to pip his opponent in another five setter. Luckless Invincible acting skipper Jon Allen had a winless evening, so he sent his team mates into battle for the doubles point but despite running their opponents close in all three sets, they succumbed to Rob and Tan and the chance for a draw was gone.
