Match Report

Boxley 1 made their annual winter visit to the chilly hut, home of Rainham 83 . A warm welcome is always given, however, and a good evening of competitive but friendly table tennis was played. Boxley always had their (cold) noses in front and ran out 6-4 winners. Gary Hentschel has hit a purple patch of form registering his 3rd consecutive maximum and consequently 3rd Player of the Match. Mick Hambelton gave him his closest contest eventually losing legs 4 and 5 from a 2-1 lead. Barry Roles also enjoyed 3 wins but had to work hard going the distance with both John Coleman and Tim Davie. Steve Neilson has officially now stepped up from Boxley 2 to join the 1st team for the rest of the season as the Boxley club try to recover from the very sad loss of Lyndon Gurr. Steve is still adjusting to the demands of div one but was just one point away from taking Tim to a deciding leg.
