Once again I am indebted to John Clark for his match report of Furious v Upnor C :-

Severe traffic issues (from the Gravesend direction) created havoc with this game, as three players struggled to get to The Howard. Two of them - ‘Furious' husband and wife duo Liu Guo and Zhong Jiao Tan - finally made it at 8.20pm but, unfortunately, Upnor’s Brenda Aherne had to give up her efforts and left her team battling with just two players. Those who did manage to reach the hall decided, due to the late start, to make use of two tables in order to get the game done at a reasonable time. Shahab Raza played what they would call in cricket, a ‘skipper’s knock’, defeating Liu and Furious' third player Rob Hudd, to secure his team’s only points of the evening. His first game of the night wasn’t so successful as the in-form Tan beat him in three straight. Upnor’s other present player, Colin Hutchins, couldn’t get a mark on the scoresheet despite putting up a strong fight against Liu, going down 12-10 in sets two and three. Tan and Liu won the doubles in three sets to round things off.
