Match Report
For one final time this season, I am thankful to John Cl;ark for his match report :-
With their skipper currently swanning around India, the Upnor trio of Colin Hutchins, Tony Jarrett and Spencer Webb turned up to populate the slightly less-exciting surroundings of the Frindsbury Cricket Pavilion for their season 'swan song' against Chatham Furious. The visiting skipper, John Clark, managed to maintain the unnerving consistency that has typified his season, losing all three of his singles. As usual his teammates propped Furious up, on this occasion the ever-reliable Zhong Jao Tan and Liyun Guo managing four singles points between them. Going into the doubles 5-4 down, Furious looked to have thrown away the match as their hapless captain, who hasn’t played the last point for weeks, selfishly picked himself to line up with Tan in the doubles. Fortunately he plucked the ability to make less mistakes from somewhere and the visitors won 3-0 to end the night with a draw. Tony Jarrett returned the best form of the evening, winning all three of his singles. Nice tea, nice chocolate biscuits and good company on this friendly evening rounded off the season on a very pleasant note.
