Week 6, the halfway stage, sees Rowhedge G (Lawrence Hornsby & Jamie Morgan) 2 points clear at the top
and still unbeaten. This weeks’ win over Rowhedge B (Andrzej Nowak & guest Rik James) 3-2 was their
closest game yet but even Rik found his opponents handicap too generous, although he did manage to edge out youngster Jamie 23-21 in the 2nd. and 3rd. sets but couldn’t get close to Lawrence who won in straight sets.
2nd. place Rowhedge E (Jared Chelski & Chloe Andrews) beat Tollgate A (Daryl Lott & Neil Freeman) 5-0,
with only 2 of the matches going the full distance. Again the handicaps playing a significant part in the win.
Pegasus B (Vic Little & Helen Woolnough) both used their handicaps to good effect in defeating Rowhedge C
(John Andrews & Thomas Lewis) 4-1 with John just edging out Helen 21-19 in the deciding set for their only
win although 3 of the matches, won in straight sets, were very close fought affairs. Rowhedge G (Lajos
Zsisku & Tim Leung) finally broke their ‘duck’ with a resounding 5-0 win over Rowhedge F (Gracie & Martin
Edwards). Rowhedge A (Roger Clarke & Martin Lewis) had a 5-0 win over Gt. Horkesley A (Phil Wolski &
Matt Rogers) again the handicaps playing a great part although 3 of the games went the distance. Finally
Dedham A (Jennie Clarke & Denise Thompson) edged out Pegasus A (Martin Hill & guest Alan Burgess) 3-2
with Denise winning both her singles. Next week sees the interesting clash of the top 2 teams. Will Jared be
able to overcome the deficit of 6 & 10 over Jamie and Lawrence, if that’s the team? Can Chloe beat Lawrence
off scratch? Can she use her 4 start well enough to overcome Jamie? Very interesting! Rowhedge B play
Rowhedge D with a win for either team lifting them away from the bottom spot. Gt. Horkesley play Pegasus B
where a win For Gt. Horkesley will keep them in touch with the top teams one of which is Pegasus B. Dedham A
play Rowhedge F where a win for the Rowhedge team will lift them closer to safety but the Dedham ladies will
need the win to maintain their challenge at the top. There is a mid table clash between Rowhedge C and
Tollgate A with points needed for both teams. Finally Pegasus A entertain Rowhedge A, again both teams in
need of the points for different reasons.
