With just a week of the season remaining, no titles or relegation issues have been decided in the closest league contest for many years.  The 3 teams battling for the first Division Title all had big wins. Top side Torbay Academy picked up their 15^th win of the season defeating Brixham Gulls 9-1. Second-placed Batmen whitewashed Newton Bishops, whilst Brixham Sharks, still with two to play, defeated Halwell 8-2.  The top two go head-to-head next week, but Brixham Sharks still look odds-on for the title.  Last season’s Division 2 champions, Brixham Trawlers, will need a miracle to prevent them dropping back down after losing 8-2 to fellow strugglers Dawlish Aces, who are now safe from the drop, with the Tushinghams, Giles & Yannick, gaining maximums for the Aces.

Similarly, at the top of Division 2, there were big wins for the top two.  Taverners have the edge going into the final match against the Torbay Academy II side thanks to a whitewash over Bishops Academicals, while the Academy side brushed aside Brixham Swallows 9-1.  Taverners’ 8-point lead means they will only require 2 sets against the Academy side to clinch the title.  Although losing to Brixham Pirates, Torre 21 Up picked up 3 valuable points in their battle with Dawlish Diamonds to avoid the drop.  Dawlish picked up just one point at Marldon, which leaves them 4 points adrift.

No results in from the top of the table in Division 3, but a great result from the bottom for Brixham Dolphins.  Their fine 7-3 victory over stablemates the Swifts was their first victory of the season, and it means they swap places with the Swifts and are off the bottom for the first time this year.  Nick Shipley had a maximum for the Dolphins.
