SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

A top of the table clash in the Third Division saw leaders Marldon Tykes comfortably see off the challenge by 2^nd placed Brixham Diamonds, 8-2. Steve Metcalfe gaining a maximum for Tykes gives them an 8-point lead at the top over the Diamonds. 3^rd placed Brixham Dolphins lost ground as they were beaten for the first time this season by Torbay Academy 4. NA Hawks are not far off the pace towards the top, and Mike Coxhead with yet another maximum, helped the Hawks to an 8-2 victory over the Hasbeens. NA Falcons avoided defeat for the first time since promotion as they shared the points with Dawlish Diamonds. Dawlish Drifters remain at the foot of the table going down 7-3 to Torre Bats.

In the First Division, new signing Ross Saxby was brought in to the Brixham Sharks team for their encounter with NA Batmen and completed a fine maximum, helping the Sharks to an 8-2 victory, with Dennis Gibbs picking up the 2 points for the Batmen.

Brixham Imports, at the top of the 2^nd Division, were held to a draw by struggling Torbay Academy 3. Taverners, also struggling to find their form this season, overcame Dawlish Aces 6-4, despite a fine maximum from the Aces’ Dave Davies.

Another convincing 10-0 victory by the youngsters of Torbay Academy 6 over Brixham Swifts has opened up a massive 18-point lead at the top of the Fourth Division. Brandon Lewis, Herbie Sage and Zoe Barnett comfortably achieved their maximums for the Academy side.  A Luke Robins’ maximum for NA Kestrels in their 7-3 victory over stablemates the Kites, moves them into the runner-up spot just one point ahead of both the Kites and the Owls from Newton Abbot. The Owls went down 6-4 at Torre against the Tigers, despite a Mark Halse maximum for the Owls.
