SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

Denbury Imports lead the First Division following a fine victory over N A Batmen.  A very strong Imports side with top Exeter players Dawid Gawron & Rory Harries securing maximums, were too good for the Batmen winning 7-3. There was some consolation for the Batmen when Dennis Gibbs & Kevin Nicholls defeated Gawron & Harries in the final doubles.  Spoils were shared between Brixham Sharks & Torbay Academy 2, with Kris Piwowar undefeated.

Second Division early leaders, N A Eagles, had Jim McIvor to thank for another maximum as they defeated Marldon 6-4.  Hot on their heels, with a game in hand, N A Buzzards secured a fine 9-1 win at Taverners, only losing the doubles. Brixham Imports started their Division 2 campaign gaining an 8-2 victory over Dawlish Aces, with Alan Maynard & Nick Williamson unbeaten for the Imports.

In the Third Division Mike Coxhead did his best to slow down Marldon Tykes’ impressive start to the season. He won all 3, but that is all N A Hawks got. Torbay Academy 4 closed the gap at the top with an impressive 9-1 win at Dawlish and Brixham Dolphins continued their fine start to the season with a 7-3 win at Newton Abbot against the Falcons. Torre Bats defeated a depleted Hasbeens team, with Tony Nguyen unbeaten for the Torre side.  Brixham Diamonds’ belated start to the season saw them romp home 10-0 against N A Falcons in their first match.

Last season’s whipping boys N A Owls jointly lead the 4^th Division with stablemates the Kestrels.  The Owls, with father and son Rob & Dylan Bayliss, together with Mark Halse defeated Pure Torre 9-1.  Peter Tarjan of the N A Kestrels secured a maximum as they defeated Torre Tigers 7-3.
