SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE.

Second Division champions are NA Buzzards. Two fine wins on consecutive nights over Torbay Academy 3 9-1, and clubmates NA Eagles 8-2, gave the Buzzards a 17-point margin at the top. The Buzzards’ Ed Crawford (81%) & Mike Dummett (77%) also finished 1^st and 2^nd in the averages, with Charlie Usher (66%) not far behind his team mates. The battle for the runners-up spot between the two Brixham sides was won by the Imports who beat the Pirates 7-3, with Nick Williamson unbeaten for the Brixham Imports.  Taverners, with Geoff Read & Alan Tyrrell unbeaten, claimed 4^th spot, with a 7-3 victory over relegated Denbury Tykes, quite an achievement after their terrible start to the season. Dawlish Aces had a fine 7-3 win over Marldon.

With Denbury Imports already in place as champions of the First Division, it was up to NA Batmen to confirm themselves as runners-up. Batmen required just a point from their last game but ended up with all 10 as they whitewashed a weakened Torbay Academy 2 side. Battlers, already relegated, went down 1-9 to Brixham Gulls and were whitewashed by Torbay Academy 1.  Last season’s Division 2 champions, Battlers,  have found it tough in the top division, but have been a great example to other teams in fulfilling all their fixtures, without any hassles, while losing heavily every week & with just 3 players.

NA Batmen – Shaun Gibbs, Dennis Gibbs & Nick Halse

NA Hawks completed their campaign with a 7-3 victory over clubmates the Falcons, this leaves the Hawks in the runners-up spot, 10 points clear of third-placed Brixham Dolphins who still have two to play.  Marldon Tykes, also with two games to play, cannot be caught at the top. Torbay Academy 4, with another Ben Hoare maximum, move up to 4^th following their 8-2 win at Torre Bats.

Fourth Division champions Torbay Academy 6, with one game to play, are 24 points clear following their 7-3 victory over Brixham Panthers. Runners-up are NA Kestrels, who confirmed their position with an 8-2 win over Brixham Swifts.  NA Kites finished 3^rd with a 9-1 win over clubmates NA Owls, as youngsters Archer Snow and Lewis Short took maximums for the Kites. Torbay Academy 5’s narrow 6-4 victory over Torre Tigers saw them confirmed in 4^th place.
