SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

The Albany Florists–sponsored South Devon & Torbay Table Tennis League sees new leaders at the top of the First Division table.  NA Batmen’s whitewash over Dawlish Aces, along with previous leaders Torbay Academy 1 dropping 3 points in their 7-3 victory over Brixham Sharks, means the Batmen head the table. Batmen’s Kelvin Cheung with his first start this season, along with Gibbs’ Dennis & Shaun were rarely troubled by the Aces. Kris Piwowar was undefeated in the Academy’s win over the Sharks, but Patrik Cincala was beaten for the first time this season, by Sharks’ Adam Shipway.  A Mick Mercer maximum helped his Brixham Gulls’ side to a narrow 6-4 win over Torbay Academy 2.

Early leaders in Division Two are Torbay Academy 3; Herbie Sage remains unbeaten for them as does Michael Hernandez, as the Academy team brushed aside Brixham Pirates 8-2.  Hot on the Academy’s heels are NA Eagles, who came away from Brixham with a fine 7-3 victory over the Imports. Andy Tyrrell and Ed Crawford took maximums for the Newton Abbot side. Geoff Read was in fine form leading his Taverners’ side to a 7-3 win at Marldon.

NA Hawks lead the 3^rd Division table following a whitewash over Hasbeens, and are due to meet second-placed Denbury Tykes this coming week.  Both teams remain unbeaten as the Tykes beat Brixham Dolphins 7-3. Pat Darch gained another maximum for the Tykes and keeps his 100% start to the season, as does Hawks’ Ben Swettenham.  A Ben Hoare maximum helped Torbay Academy 4 to a narrow 6-4 win over Brixham Diamonds.  Brixham Dolphins beat Hasbeens 7-3.

Torre Tigers are early leaders at the top of the 4^th Division: Rob Burridge, Donna Ryan & Stephen Tucker were too strong for the Dawlish Drifters who failed to win a game in their 10-0 defeat.  An Andrew Davies’ maximum was not enough for his Torres R Us side as they narrowly lost to NA Ospreys 4-6.  Torbay Academy 5 were too good for a depleted Brixham Swifts, comfortably winning 9-1.
