PRESS REPORT – Sunday 15^th Mar

NA Batmen have clinched the division one title with a whitewash victory over Brixham Pirates. Dennis and Shaun Gibbs with Naomi Jackson taking the title with one match still to play. NA Buzzards have finished their campaign and will take the runners-up spot following their 8-2 win over Brixham Sharks, Kevin Nicholls and Herbie Sage were unbeaten for the Buzzards. Brixham Gulls, Mick Mercer, Mark Smith and Chris Dunn defeated NA Eagles 9-1, just dropping the doubles. NA Condors moved up the table to fourth with a 10-0 victory over Halwell. Mark Burridge, Giles Tushingham and David Davies going well for the Condors.

The two teams battling for the second division title both had 8-2 wins. Leaders, Marldon, with Ed Thompson and Helen Glover unbeaten saw off the Taverners while second placed Torbay Academy 3 defeated Brixham Trawlers, Kacper Piwowar with a maximum for the Academy. NA Falcons played twice this week. Firstly, going down 8-2 at Denbury Tykes, for whom Paul Hine and Huw Darch were unbeaten, then welcoming skipper Mike Dummett back from injury, they secured a 9-1 win against NA Hawks, Dummett and Chris Baron with maximums for the Falcons.

Similarly, to the second division, the race for the third division title is realistically between two teams. The leaders, NA Owls, Matt Cyron, Josh Redfern and Rowan Bayliss had a convincing 10-0 victory over NA Harriers while the Torre Titans defeated Torbay Academy 4, 8-2, Chris Harper and Carl Tucker with maximums for the Titans.  John Fowler was in fine form as he helped Torbay Academy 5 see off the challenge from NA Kites winning 6-4. Hasbeens and Brixham Dolphins played out a 5-5 draw.

The three teams at the top of the fourth division are separated by two points with just the one match to play. Torbay Academy 6 are in the driving seat despite losing to third placed Dawlish Diamonds 6-4. The Academy are a point ahead of The Grove who have to hope the Academy slip up in their final match. Dawlish Diamonds are just a point behind The Grove and could still be in with a shout. Laurie Girling with another maximum saw his Dawlish Dynamos defeat Brixham Swifts 7-3. William Hall, Torbay Academy 7, was unbeaten as they defeated NA Merlins 7-3. NA Vultures fifth win in a row was a whitewash victory over NA Ospreys. Jasem Abu Ali, Kevin Salt and Mike Halse representing the Vultures this week as their fine run of form has lifted them up to fourth in the table.
