It was a pulsating night, nobody winning more than two of their singles. Time pressure was probably a factor in Kevin Ayling losing in straight sets to Steve Cooper in the final singles, and then Steve and Bruce Freeman beat Kevin and Steve Metcalfe in a best of three doubles *  to ensure parity. Although he didn’t win any of his games, up and coming young talent Frank Frain showed great promise, especially against Steve Metcalfe.
