Match Report
First league win for Trawlers this season over a Marldon team without their highly ranked Helen Parton, out due to injury, and one that helps the team kick-off their survival hopes.
A good team effort with Alan Maynard, Ian Saxby and Nick Williamson each winning two, with Nick and Alan comfortably taking the doubles.
Ed Thompson for Marldon played well to secure a brace for the visitors, coming back from 2-1 down against Alan to win 11-6 in the fifth set in which he saw himself 2-5 down at the switch.
A fine effort from Dave Atkin coming from 2 sets down against Ian to win 13-11, 13-11 in the fourth and fifth sets.
Not a great night for Nigel Goodman who seemed to struggle with the light in the hall. That said, he showed some great attacking form which with consistency, will put him in good stead to enjoy future wins.
A busy night in the hall, and one that Trawlers will look on as a turning point in their season, we hope!
Alan.
