Match Report

A 8 -2 win against Denbury Tykes was probably Taverners best performance of the season.

After a comprehensive 7-3 defeat last time when Taverners were largely outplayed by our opponents, we needed to "turn the tables" at the Bishopsteignton Village Hall and we did just that.

The first match of the evening was always going to be pivotal to the result so when Colin came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in a very close set against Paul, it provided the catalyst for Martin and myself to press on for the win.

Most of the sets were decided in 3 or 4 games but credit to Huw who played the right game v Martin and made an important contribution with Paul to win the doubles to secure another point for DT.

Over the past 5 years, Paul has had a very good record when playing the Taverners but this time Paul had a rare "off" night and Pat also drew a "blank" after his excellent performance back in November.

On to our third match in March. What the outcome will be is anyone's guess!!
