Match Report
This was part two of Brixham Trawlers' 'Great Escape' from the Div 2 drop. It was actually sealed earlier in the week with 4 points gained against Marldon. Trawlers needed the doubles win at the end in that match to make them safe, and the steady match play of Alan Maynard and new player Simon Hopkins saw them through.
The Denbury match was still, as ever, a competitive affair with Paul Hine pushing Trawlers all the way, but just falling short of a maximum against the mighty Ian Saxby and his consistent attacking loops which in the end gave him the maximum and Player of the Match instead. Saxby was well supported by Maynard and Hopkins to give Trawlers the win in their final match of the season.
So Trawlers regroup in the summer to go again with their sights on pushing for something a little better than the bottom half of the table.
Thanks to all the clubs, teams and organisers for a most enjoyable season.
See you at the closed tournament and AGM!!
Alan.
