Match Report

Could last nights result be a sign of better times for the Taverners team? A 9-1 win against one of our closest "rivals" the Kestrels was certainly a big improvement and our best result so far this season! I hope this form continues!!

Having first managed to switch off a couple of spotlights and a flashing light strip in the Village Hall, the evening was enjoyable which is not surprising when you have the likes of Dale, Bruce and Rob playing for the Kestrels. Very pleasant company with competitive table tennis and a bit of chat nearly always makes for a good evening.

As for the match details, 6 of the 10 sets were decided in 4 or 5 games but this time it was Taverners winning the decisive sets with Bruce securing the one win for the Kestrels. Colin and I completed maximums - a pretty rare occurrence as far as I am concerned. Perhaps it was Frank Frain and his maximum last week that inspired me?!

2 matches next week including the Dyment Doubles so no time to rest on our laurels.
