Match Report

Having been promoted to Division 2 this season, Torre Titans have certainly hit the ground running with their third straight win of the season last night by beating the Taverners by 6 sets to 3.
It was a deserved win for the Titans with a fine team effort from Chris, Tony and Bill.
All three players are difficult and awkward to play against and it takes a bit of time to adjust to their different styles. Chris Harper in particular has a very good playing record and uses his tricky black pimpled rubber effectively. With his excellent table coverage and ball placement, Chris will prove a testing opponent to many in Div 2 this season.
I was also impressed by Bill Keyworth who hit some amazing shots, is steadily improving and has started the season very well.
As for the Taverners, it is no need to be too downhearted. Colin maintained his fine form with 2 wins last night and it was good to see Martin gain an important point winning against Tony in 3.
No wins for me but at least I lost narrowly in 5 to Bill in a very good set and also managed to take Chris to 4 games so positivity abounds!
We meet again at Torre Table Tennis Club on the 18th January 2022 but meanwhile good luck to the Titans in their upcoming matches.
