Match Report

A wet and windy evening at the Village Hall against our new "partners" now using the Hall, Dawlish Table Tennis Club including last nights opponents Dawlish Aces.

With Captain David D not playing and Jason Prescott stepping in for his first match of the season, it did nothing to weaken the team and Aces completed a 6-4 win.

Jason who works at the Dawlish Leisure Centre is currently unable to play too regularly because of work commitments but as we know he has clearly played at a higher level. Currently ranked 21 in our league rankings, Jason won his expected maximum playing with both skill and tactical acumen and with a sporting approach which is always good.

Jason was well supported by Mark and Mitch in a good team performance.

For Taverners, Martin won 2 with wins over Mark and Mitch and played his best match so far. Colin battled hard against Mitch to win in 5 and from 2-1 down. It was also encouraging to win the doubles set (our first of the season) when Colin and Martin won in 5 against the impressive combination of Mark and Jason.

I am still waiting to spark or even ignite to support the Taverners with a few wins but maybe next week after the Early Season Tournament on Sunday!?

Thank you Aces for an enjoyable evening.
