Graham Sleep’s player of the match performance at Brandon Crusaders wasn’t enough to seal an Old England Legends victory in a close 5/5 promotion scrap in division two. Sleep’s attacking forehand loop gave him the edge over the home sides’ Peter Flowers, John Bainbridge and Ken George. Phil Bowden and Howard Brown also scored for Legends. Mount cemented top spot in a 10/0 romp at Durham Tornadoes - Scott and Sam Nicholson alongside John Henderson for the visitors. Durham University took only two players to West CA B - students Ben McHoul and Felix Gregory unbeaten in a 7/3 win to put pressure on the league leaders. Neil Herrington, Andrew Wilkinson and Jamie Dent extended Mount True Roof’s lead at the top of division one in a 10/0 home win over Durham Aces. Unionist A went second when Richard Wilson, Phil Prady and Paul Baines dropped only one end when Burnmoor A visited. Third placed St. Chad’s won 6/4 at home to St. Gabriel’s A despite resting Josh Weatherby and Youssef Hassan - Chris Blake (3) and Keith Weatherby (2) for Chads - Jake Helm a brace, Ken Lee and Alex Smith one each for Gabriel’s. In an all Brandon top of the table clash in three - the Jets edged the Devils 6/4. Jude Warner player of the match with a Sam Dale brace - Simon Kirkham hit two legs for Devils - Paul Lupton and Syd Gooding got one each. Alex Nicholl, Chloe Irwin-Chambers and Shirley Robson took their Backspin C team second in an 8/2 win at Burnmoor B. Steve Brown replied with two for the home side.
