Mount True Roof hammered first division newcomers Backspin A 10/0 to extend their lead at the top of the table. The Stanley side turned up with just two players at Gateshead - Jamie Hall and Hakan Aslan providing little resistance although Hall did take the home sides’ Leo Conn to five ends. Jamie Dent and captain Anthony Ainley didn’t drop a game. At Brandon, in a battle of last season’s basement sides, the Outlaws beat St. Gabriel’s B 6/4 - David Drummond starring for the home side taking all three sets and combining with junior Adam Watson to take the doubles. Last season’s men’s singles champion Lee Tinkler was man of the match at South Shields when last season’s runners-up Brandon Air beat the Unionist A team 8/2. Richard Wilson and Phil Prady got the home side’s consolations - a remarkable 3/2 win for Prady against former British 0-50s champion Dave Robson the stand out score for Shields. Other results in one - Durham Aces 9 Burnmoor A 1, DL Tigers 3 St. Gabriel’s A 7, West A 10 East Boldon A 0 (W/O). 

Old England Legends hit the top spot in the second despite a Monday nightstalemate at Brandon Energy. The home side’s Neil Richards had too much for Graham Sleep, Phil Bowden and Howard Brown. In Stanley, Backspin B were beaten 8/2 by Mount who slipped into second spot with a game in hand. Daniel Foster was unbeaten, supported by Charlie Mouzon and Scott Nicholson who both added a pair. Durham University, back for their first league two fixture at Wild West CA, did well in an 8/2 romp.Declan Kelly and Michael Hepworth each got one for the Sunderland side. Other results in two - Lanchester C 6 Durham Tornadoes 4, St. Gabriel’s C 7 West B 3.

 

The Ashbrooke B team remain unbeaten at the summit of the third division as they edged out Lanchester Praetorians 6/4 at West Lawn. Alasdair Campbell won two of his matches 3/2 against Daniel and Stephen Dobson and beat Jason Kemp three straight. Michael Oliver and Alan Thompson won the doubles and Keith Remmer took the other two points for Ashbrooke who go third in the table behind two Brandon teams - the Devils and the Jets. The Devils hit top spot when they travelled to Boldon C - Stephen Verde, Paul Thompson and Syd Gooding were too much for Viv Ford, William Walton and Joseph Davies although Davies in particular fought well and took a set and three games.
