3 mystery men, Jamie Westwater, Richard Karczewski and Trevor Teasdale, travelled from the River Tyne across the mighty Wear intent upon inflicting their evil table tennis ways on the truly good boys of West CAC, Alan Whitwham, Michael Hepworth, and Howard Foster.

The Unionist B took a 2-0 lead when Dick overcome Alan and the ever-young Jamie beat Howard, but Michael defeated Trevor in 3 straight games then Dick showed all his skills to beat Howard and then teamed up with Jamie to overcome Alan and Michael in the doubles in 3 ends. The highlight of my season came when I at last won a set against Trevor and it was close but won 11-8 in the 5^th end, Jamie won his last 2 sets and Michael played well to defeat Dick in 4 ends.

The unluckiest player of the night was Trevor when in his last match of the night with Howard he had more nets and edges against him I have ever seen in a table tennis match in all my life, and in the 5^th end when he had set point at 10-9 Howard got a very faint edge to make it deuce and then went onto win 15-13 and that would have been Trevor’s 1^st win of the season. The men from Tyneside beat the Wearside boys 6-4 and all because of Player of the Match Jamie Westwater so well played Jamie.
