Match Report
West CAC travelled to the Badlands of Brandon to face Dave Brown and his Outlaws who were Barry Cullen and the ever-young Phil Hansom, everybody young compared to me, but my men Howard Foster and Yorkshire’s finest export Imran Mohammed and me, Alan Whitwham. The match started with Dave showing his class beating Howard in 4 ends, then Phil overcome Alan in a hard fought 4 ender, Barry then caused Imran a whole load of trouble with his rubbers to win in 3 straight games.
The next 3 sets went as expected, then came the surprise of the season when Alan, after dropping the 1st end 11-5 to Barry went on to take the next 3. However West lost the next 2 sets which left the last set between the big beasts Dave and Alan. The strong favourite Dave took the 1st end, but Alan dug in to win the next, but when Dave won the 3rd game 11-3 it looked bad for the old West guy. Alan like a phoenix rose from the ashes to win the last 2 ends, but the Outlaw can count himself unlucky when he had match point at 11-10 in the 4th end, hardlines Dave, but the best-looking man won.
The Player of the Match was Phil Hansom, so well played Phil.
I had stopped playing in my shirts with the name on the back so nobody would know it was me, but after tonight’s match I can wear my name with pride.
Gan Canny,
Alan, who doubled his wins for the season, Whitwham
