West CAC played Bethany CC who made the journey to the match via the mountain known as Houghton Cut and the team was rewarded with a 9-1 win, and this was the same score that West lost by, that is mind boggling and very strange. Howard Brown and Graham Sleep won 3 singles and teamed up in the doubles to overcome Malcolm Deneven and Alan Whitwham in 4 ends. Thanks to Dave Craddock, who just arrived back from warmer climates, he lost to Malcolm in 5 sets. West’s Yorkshire Terriers Michael Hepworth and Imran Mohammed could not win any sets, but they put up a good show.

The main talking point was Howard’s table tennis clobber it was very smart all black shirt and shorts and it was rumoured that he acquired them from an undertaker.

The Player of the Match, and the best dressed competitor, Howard Brown, so well played Howard and well dressed.
