Match Report

What a cracking night of table tennis at Freemans Quay. Hosting the semifinals of the Sunderland league Team handicap competition drew quite a crowd, but there was as much interest in the game between Magic and Joules which had serious repercussions on the state of the top of Division 3.

The handicap matches went the way of the two teams with youngsters in them and all being well will be played at Feeeman's Quay on Wednesday  April 27th.

The division 3 was a thriller of a game with Magic needing 4 points to guarantee promotion, but they were up against the very talented youngsters from Brandon who have put together some really good results lately.

Joules started strongly and raced into a 3-1 lead, But Vinny and Luke managed to get it back to 3-2 in the doubles, the next two games were split and Joules then took the next two to give them an unassailable 6-3 lead.

The last match was a tense affair between Luke and Harry, with Luke racing into a 2-0 lead and then Harry pulling back to 2-2 and it went right to the wire with Luke taking the final end 11-9 giving Magic the point they needed to seal promotion.

Angelos was MVP with a stunning hat-trick of wins backed up by Freya who took 2 and Harry is proving to be a great player and took 1 to give Joules the 6-4 win.

The final match is between Joules and Auxiliaries and if Joules play as well as tonight , they could come away with enough points to also gain promotion.
