Match Report

This week West CAC welcomed Lanchester Centurions, so called because of the ages of Reuben Emery and Terry Charlton, and a warm welcome to the exotically named Val Monteith-Towler, I wish that I had a name like that, but I don’t think that Val would suit me.

Magic Mick Redfearn got West off to a good start when he overcame Terry in 3 ends, but Reuben showed his class by defeating Howard Forster in 3 games and that left Declan ‘Chainsaw’ Kelly to beat Val over 3 ends. Terry then saw off Howard to square the match and then came the big surprise when Alan Whitwham teamed up with Magic Mick in the doubles, this was because it was my ball, against Reuben and Terry this seemed a great move by the home side to include Alan, but it failed and they lost in 4 ends, I wish I knew who picks the team. A win by Magic over Val, Reuben beat Chainsaw Kelly, but Howard and Chainsaw won the next 2 sets to leave the score 5-4 to the home and left the 2 number ones to decide the result.

The match proved why they were the number ones, and an epic battle went down the end when Magic Mick got off to a great start winning the 1st 6 points with some great backhand shots, but Reuben fought back to take the 5th end 12-10 and it was a shame for anybody to loose, well done Mr Emery.

It was nice to meet Val who played some good strokes, and she was unlucky that I did not play, or she could have won a set, keep going Val.

What can I say about The Player of the Match, that Reuben hasn’t said about himself, so well played Reuben all our team admire you, except Mick because he lost to you.

Can Canny,

Alan, the goofball who picks the team sorry, Whitwham
